Video Library is a place where human "entertainment experts" are available to provide help to buy or rent movies or games.

In a time when the neighborhood video rental store has been replaced by online services, general manager Darcie Williams said the new store in Ironwood Center can be a good addition to using online DVD borrowing companies.

"When families use something like Netflix and get only two movies a week, no way will that satisfy everyone," said Williams. "We take trade-ins, do disc repair and provide good customer service, which is so hard to find in any business.

"Besides, when you come in here, you get to talk to people, not at computers."

Title sections in Video Library include the familiar Family, Drama and Horror as well as Anime, Westerns, Cult Classics, Foreign and Golden Globe Winners. One section is devoted to past Oscar winners and nominees for this year's awards.

The Ironwood store is the third for owner Jack Garrett, who started the first Video Library in Grass Valley, Calif., 20 years ago. Another location is in South Lake Tahoe.

Garrett said after years of learning at the school of hard knocks, he's adapted to what people like. People have told him they like the location and they appreciate customer services such as movie and game trade-ins, disc repair and the contests.

The Video Library offers a disc repair service where to resurface DVDs and game discs to new condition and customers have multiple chances to choose the Academy Award winners in the "Pick the Winners" contest until Feb. 24.

The store also has popcorn and snacks, accessories, books and previously viewed movies for sale.

The Video Library is located at 1770 Highway 395 in the Ironwood Center, Minden. Information, 782-7114.
