On Jan. 23, Grand Knight of the Gardnerville Knights of Columbus Chuck Ripoli presented Peter Axelson of Tools for Life, a check for $1,600 raised at the Knights' Dec. 8 bingo night dedicated to Lenna Fagan. Lenna received her new prosthetic leg last November and donations over the amount needed were to go to Tools for Life and help other folks with similar needs within Carson Valley.

Tools for Life is a Nevada nonprofit organization that provides information on individuals and organizations that facilitate the provision of adaptive seating and mobility equipment to persons with disabilities throughout the world where these technologies are not readily available. Tools for Life was started by Peter and Denise Axelson. Peter is the founder of Beneficial Designs Inc., a company based in Minden. After sustaining a spinal cord injury, Peter started Beneficial Designs to develop technologies to improve the quality of life for people with disabilities.

The Knights of Columbus is a fraternal and service organization dedicated to helping brother knights in need, supporting St. Gall parish needs, and helping where needed in the Carson Valley community. Financial support is made possible through the Knights bingo nights held on the second and fourth Fridays of each month at the St. Gall Catholic Church. These events, which are open to everyone over the age of 21, have provided funds to support several community projects. Ripoli is in charge of the Knights bingo nights.
