The first thing seen inside Bellissimo is an upside-down Christmas tree that owner Sarah Johnstone plans to keep up year round with season-appropriate decorations.
A new home accessories store in the Carson Valley Plaza, Bellissimo features hand-painted furniture, high-end baby cribs, wall art, paintings, tapestries, chandeliers, canister sets, frames, fireplace accessories, mantles and many jeweled items.
"Everything in the store is for sale," said Johnstone.
The store carries BCBG clothing, Lady Primrose lotions, candles and bath oils and Brighton jewelry, handbags and shoes.
Originally from Southern California, Johnstone's plans for her store and the move to Carson Valley took more than a year.
"We knew this area was growing and thought it needed something like this," she said.
"Everything's a gamble and if it works, great. If you love what you do, you can make it work."
Johnstone helps customers with decorating by letting them "test drive" accessories.
"Everyone can use another set of eyes," she said. "I let customers bring products home to look at for a few days then I'll pick up what doesn't work. That way you can tell what works - if you like it or not."
Bellissimo is at 935 Topsy Lane, Suite 432, in the Carson Valley Plaza.
