Carson Valley athletes strong at Tilly Botti

Four Carson Valley junior tennis players acheived solid results in the Norcal-sanctioned Tilly Botti Reno Open.

In the first round, Amelia Ritger, 14, knocked out the No. 2 seed from Galena, 6-0, 6-0.


In the finals, Ritger went up against the player who had just upended the No. 1 seed. Ritger emerged victorious in a hard-fought, tactical match 4-6, 7-5, 7-6 (7-1).


James TenBroeck, 13, was seeded No. 1 in the boys' 14 division. He played one of his occasionally troublesome Norcal rivals int he championship and came out on top, 6-3, 6-0.

Nick Goodner, 8, won his first open level tournament in the boys' 10 division, 6-0, 6-0.


Kari TenBroeck, 12, was seeded No. 2 in the girls' 12s and finished second to a higher-ranked Californian.

The Nevada State Open will be in Reno in August.
