Minden's 26-year-old record high temperature of 100 degrees for July 5 was immolated by a reading of 109 degrees, reported by Minden weather watcher Stan Kapler. This is the second day in a row the record fell. The 103-degree high set in 1991 for July 4 went by the wayside with a reading of 107 degrees.

The 76-year-old record high for Friday may be a little tougher to crack, since temperatures are already dropping below 100 in parts of the Valley and the weather is supposed to cool slightly.
