The Carson Valley 9-10-year-old all-stars wrapped up a perfect slate in pool play at the Nevada District I Little League All-Star tournament at Aspen Park Thursday night with a 5-4 come-from-behind win over Carson National.
Carson Valley fell back 2-0 in the first inning but came back in the bottom of the second when Matt Santos and Skylar Mattison each drew walks and Chase Johnson cleared the bases with a home run.
Carson National took a 4-3 lead with two more runs in the top of the fourth, but in the bottom of the sixth, Johnathan Hoyt bunted safely and Kaleb Foster doubled to put runners on second and third.
Zach Davies stepped to the plate and belted a two-run single to end the game.
Carson Valley pitcher James Herrick got the start on the mound and threw four effective innings before giving way to Santos. Foster closed the game out for Carson Valley to pick up the win in relief.
The 9-10-year-olds took on Carson American Friday night in the first round of single elimination.
Carson Valley's 10-11-year-old squad ended up losing a continuation game to Sparks Centennial Thursday afternoon after entering the final inning leading 4-1.
The game was originally played Tuesday night, but the lights at Aspen Park shut off with two on and no out for Sparks in the bottom of the sixth.
Generally, it would have been ruled a complete game and the win would have been given to Carson Valley, but an appeal to the Little League main office in Williamsport, Pa., ruled that the game must be finished from where the lights went off.
Sparks rallied to win 5-4 in the final inning continuation.
Carson Valley came back several hours later and blasted Carson National 16-1 in five innings.
The 10-11-year-olds took on Washoe Friday night in the first round of single elimination play.
