A 200-acre fire burning in Topaz Ranch Estates has shifted direction away from Quail Run Road and east toward the old Sleeping Elephant Ranch.
Highway 208 is closed to all but firefighting and law enforcement vehicles. All roads south of Highway 208 are blocked as the fire continues to burn.
Up to 300 structures are potentially threatened, though only one residence is reported to be in immediate danger. The fire is moving across the grassy flats on a 1/4 mile wide front.
Douglas County Sheriff Ron Pierini said the flames were 12-feet high and moving toward the Allred house on the old Sleeping Elephant ranch.
"The flames are heading northwest and coming toward the highway," Pierini said.
