The Carson Valley Chamber of Commerce & Visitors Authority announced Thursday the hiring of Jenney Sartin as executive director, effective July 1.
"Jenney's background Ð public service, public policy, communications and nonprofit management Ð makes her an excellent choice to lead the chamber's efforts in Carson Valley," said Nick Pchelkin, President of the Board of Directors.
"Her experience and leadership will be a real asset as the chamber addresses important business and tourism issues in Carson Valley and the broader goals of the community."
Sartin brings to the Carson Valley Chamber of Commerce & Visitors Authority accomplishments in government affairs and nonprofit management.
Prior to her hiring, Sartin spent more than 15 years as a public relations and government affairs professional, providing public information and government public policy information.
The issues she handled included the proposed nuclear waste repository at Yucca Mountain, private property rights, disclosure laws, business tax; new construction, design, maintenance and repair of school facilities, contract dispute resolutions related to school construction projects, election law reform (Mississippi), and the implementation and oversight of federal laws in regards to handicap accessibility to voting precincts.
She has served as executive director of several nonprofit organizations, one of which received congressional recognition for outstanding service to the community.
Sartin served as election commissioner for Rankin County, Miss., where she oversaw municipal, county, state and federal elections.
She has been the recipient of a number of awards and honors in recognition for her outstanding leadership skills and community service, including being selected to Ten Outstanding Young Mississippians and Outstanding Young Americans. As a representative for the Greater Las Vegas Association of Realtors ,Sartin was appointed by former Congressman Bilbray to the Public Lands Planning Task Force and the Grand Canyon Visibility Commission. Additionally, she was appointed by the Clark County Commission to the Clark County Affordable Housing Committee. After 17 years in the Las Vegas valley, Sartin now resides in Minden.
The board of director's transitional planning over the past several months has paved the way for the organization to focus its influence on business areas including member services via networking, business referrals and membership; business assistance with economic development, tourism development and promotion, business education and training services (in conjunction with the Nevada Small Business Development Center and Service Core of Retired Executives), and relocation assistance; as well as political advocacy via governmental affairs representation, and communications efforts and relationships with elected and appointed officials.
