Valley has strong showing at motocross series kickoff

When the Big Valley Honda Triple Crown Night Motocross series made its debut at the Douglas County Fairgrounds last year, it made a huge splash in the area.


Carson Valley not only packed the stands for the event, but also produced eight champions.

This year, the event only grew.


The series added an additional night, and Valley competitors captured 21 titles out of 58 total classes over the weekend.


The first two rounds of the 2007 series were conducted Friday and Saturday night.


Bryan Cook, Gardnerville, won the big wheel beginner class Friday and won the 85cc beginner class Saturday.

A total of 27 competitors from Gardnerville, Minden, Genoa or Wellington placed in the top three of their events at least once.


Cody Whalin, Minden, won the collegeboy 18-24 class and took third in the 250/450F junior class Friday and took third in the collegeboy 18-24 class Saturday.


Wayne Appleton, Minden, won the 125/250F intermediate class and won the schoolboy class Friday. He also won the 250/450F intermediate class Saturday.


Jesse Leeper, Minden, won the collegeboy 18-24 class and took second in the 125/250F junior class Saturday. He took second in the 250/450F junior class and third in the 125/250F junior class Friday.

Kole Ackerson, Gardnerville, won the 65cc beginner class Friday and took third in the 65cc beginner class Saturday.


Rick Ackerson, Gardnerville, won the 30 plus beginner class Friday and Saturday.


Ryan Roberts, Wellington, won the 25 plus junior class Friday and Saturday.


Mike Molyneaux, Genoa, won the 25 plus beginner class and the 30 plus junior class Saturday.

Nicholas Roberts, Gardnerville, won the 250/450F beginner class Friday.


Tyson Krider, Gardnerville, won the 25 plus beginner class Friday.


Jim Goldberg, Gardnerville, won the 40 plus junior class Saturday.

Tyler Moore, Gardnerville, took third in both the 85cc junior class and 85cc open class Friday. He won the 85cc junior class and took second in the supermini class Saturday.


Jeremiah Gottaz, Minden, took third in the collegeboy 18-24 class Friday.


Rece Ackerson, Gardnerville, took second in the 50cc beginner 4-6 class both days.


Dylan Galliett, Minden, took second in both the 50cc open class and 65cc beginner class Friday. He took second in the 50cc open and won the 65cc beginner Saturday.

Jesse Gore, Minden, took second in both the 85cc intermediate class and 85cc open class Friday.


Mike Epps, Gardnerville, took second in the 40 plus junior class and third in the 30 plus beginner class Friday.


Dean Stringham, Gardnerville, took second in the 125/250F beginner class Friday and Saturday.


Aaron Whalin, Minden, took second in the 125/250F junior class Friday.

Nick Baugh, Gardnerville, took third in the 125/250F professional class Friday and third in the 250/450F professional class Saturday.


Steven Finch, Minden, took second in the 250/450F beginner class Friday.


Donnie Weber, Gardnerville, took third in the 250/450F professional class Friday.


Ron Haskins, Gardnerville, took third in the 40 plus junior class Friday.

Hunter O'Neal, Gardnerville, took second in the 50cc beginner 7-8 class Saturday.


Auggie Roefer, Gardnerville, took second in the 65cc beginner class Saturday.


Ty Tremaine, Gardnerville, took third in the 85cc junior class Saturday.


Ron Dohrn, Gardnerville, took third in the 125/250F junior class Saturday.
