Global warming and energy resources may seem intimidating feats for everyday people to conquer, but few people know that making a big difference may start right here in Douglas County.
Marion Barritt, director of the American Solar Energy Society, and co-chair Carole Thompson are the founders of the Sustainable Living and Renewable Energy Roundup, a three-day event from Aug. 10-12 which will take place in Minden.
The roundup is a series of events and activities addressing different aspects of climate change, sustainable living and renewable energy and what people of the community can do to change and help the environment.
"Nevada has more renewable energy resources than any other state in the union," said Barritt. "Geothermal, solar, wind and biomass. I am hoping Douglas County will become a global hotspot for renewable energy and sustainable living. It's such a great place to start."
