Johnny Paxton Jr.

A memorial service is 11 a.m. Saturday at Walton's Chapel of the Valley in Carson City for Johnny Paxton Jr., 53, who died July 18, 2007, in Carson City.
Mr. Paxton was born Feb. 1, 1954, in Los Angeles to Johnny Paxton Sr. and Lillian Townsend. He was a veteran of the U.S. Army and married Stormy S. Main on Oct. 4, 1986, in Carson City. He graduated from Western Nevada Community College in 1986 with an associate of arts degree in music.
He was a construction foreman primarily working for Garretson and Furgeson Construction, Inc. for more than 20 years.
Before moving to Carson City, he lived in Lake View Terrace, Calif.
Mr. Paxton enjoyed fishing, camping, spending time with his family, singing, songwriting and playing his guitar. He built his own recording studio. During his music career, he was the opening act for various recording artists, including Leon Russell, Elvin Bishop, Iron Butterfly, Norton Buffalo and Eric Burdon.
Mr. Paxton was preceded in death by his brother Michael who died in 2001.
He is survived by his wife Stormy of Carson City; his father of Canyonville, Ore.; his mother and stepfather Lillian and Joe Johnston of Yuma, Ariz.; sons Jay Kemp and wife Nina of Carson City, Joshua Lambert and wife Elizabeth of Iowa Park, Texas, Truckee Paxton and wife Jen of Reno, Jason Lake and wife Andrea of Gardnerville; daughters Stormy Winters of Carson City, Jenera Batten and husband Perry of Carson City, Venice Simpson and husband Drew of Portland, Robin Jackson of Gardnerville, Madeline Paxton of Lawton, Okla.; brothers Richard Castle and wife Tami of Carson City, John N. Paxton and wife Kelly of Reseda, Calif.; sisters Nen Sajjadham and husband Narong of Lakewood, Calif., Debra Paxton of Easley, S.C., Vivian Paxton of Phoenix, Ariz. and Debbie Sprott and husband Neal of Minden as well as 12 grandchildren.
Arrangements are in the care of Walton's Chapel of the Valley in Carson City.
