A bear who's been raiding garbage in Genoa over the past two weeks is a guest of the state after climbing into the Nevada Department of Wildlife trap this morning.
Several Genoa residents complained about the bear last week at a Genoa Town Board meeting.
"My neighbor was nose to nose with the bear at 5:45 a.m.," resident Bill Brooks said at the July 18 meeting.
Wednesday is garbage day in Nevada's oldest town. Residents speculated there were two bears, but it isn't unusual for a bear to range over long distances, according to the Nevada Division of Wildlife.
