Tickets go on sale Aug. 1 for the Douglas County Historical Society's production of the "Curse of the Hanging Tree," which returns Sept. 7 and 8.
The "Curse of the Hanging Tree" is a moving, living history spoof based on the most infamous lynching in Nevada history. The audience has the opportunity to visit some of the actual sites where the historic events took place in 1897 in Genoa.
There are no rehearsals and the script is improvised so no two performances are the same.
The actors are elected officials, local attorneys and other notable community members who donate their time to this major fundraiser for the Douglas County Historical Society.
Tickets are $15 per person and will go on sale Aug. 1 at the Carson Valley Museum & Cultural Center in Gardnerville and at the Genoa Court House Museum in Genoa. Advanced purchase of tickets is recommended as there are only 55 seats available for each performance.
Performance times are 6:30 and 7:30 p.m. Sept. 7 and 6, 6:45 and 7:30 p.m. on Sept. 8. To receive tickets by mail, send a check or money order with the date and time of performance in a self-addressed envelope to the Douglas County Historical Society, 1477 Highway 395, Gardnerville, NV 89410.
