Phillip E. Corbitt
1936-2007
A memorial service will be 5 p.m. June 9 at the home of Phillip E. Corbitt, 71, of Gardnerville, who died May 27, 2007 in Gardnerville. Mr. Corbitt was a resident of Gardnerville for 25 years.
Mr. Corbitt was born Jan. 20, 1936 in Texas to Joe and Imogene Corbitt. He married his wife Pat in Hugo, Okla., in 1958. He served in the U.S. Marine Corps for more than 25 years. He founded a drug and rehab center in Texas that he was very proud of. He also loved doing garage sales.
He was preceded in death by his wife Pat Corbitt on Jan. 26, 2007. He is survived by his son Mike Corbitt of Gardnerville; two grandchildren Phillip and David Corbitt; his brothers Don Corbitt of Fallon and Jerry Corbitt of Battle Mountain and his two puppies Jazz and Dakota.
Arrangements are in the care of FitzHenry's Carson Valley Funeral Home. Cremation will take place at FitzHenry's Crematory in Carson City.
Bryan Charles Malone
1959-2007
A memorial service will be held 3 p.m. Thursday at the Faith Community Church of the Nazarene in Yorba Linda,Calif., for Bryan Charles Malone, 48, of Blairsville, Ga., formerly of Carson City, who died May 29, 2007 in the Emory Hospital following a brief illness.
Mr. Malone was born on April 25,1959 in Anaheim, Calif.,the son of Wes Malone and Dixie Meyers Malone. He was a member of the Promise Keepers, The Men's Group, worked in youth ministries for many years, also worked at missions in Los Angeles. He was a man of integrity who loved his family and loved helping his fellow man and serving God. Mr. Malone was a member of the Blairsville Church of the Nazarene.
Surviving Mr. Malone is his wife Laurie Mossholder Malone of Blairsville, Ga.; his daughter and son-in-law, Rochelle and Matthew Kronenberg of Gardnerville; his mother Dixie Malone of Brey, Calif., his father, Wes Malone of Carson City; two sisters and brothers-in-law Tracey and Pat Milsop of Salton Sea, Calif., Linda and Bill Gile of Whittier, Calif.; three stepbrothers, Kelly, Jeff and Steven O'Brien, one grandchild, Faith Nicole Kronenberg and many other relatives and friends.
In lieu of flowers the family requests that memorial donations be made to Crossroad Nazarene Church in Gardnerville or to Missions Working Witness in Mr. Malone's memory.

Phyllis Lucille
Machado
1927-2007
Phyllis Lucille Machado, 79, died on Mother's Day, May 13, 2007 in Hawaii. She was a resident of Gardnerville for 25 years.
She is survived by her two daughters, Jackie Yarlott and husband Michael Susak and Debbie and husband Len West. The family would like to give special thanks to her hanai (adopted by love) son Dirk and his wife Patti Wunderlich. She will be laid to rest on Maui by her request.
Zola Helen Murray
1925-2007
Zola Murray, 81, a 15-year resident of Gardnerville, died May 29, 2007 at her home. She was born June 10, 1925 in Bradley, S.D. to Joseph and Gertrude Sare.
She married Edward Murray, Nov. 2, 1957 and during their 49 year marriage, they lived in Long Beach, Corona and Norco, all in California. She was a homemaker and devoted to caring for her family.
Mrs. Murray is survived by her husband Ed Murray of Gardnerville; her daughter Shelly Randall, son-in-law Mike Randall and grandchildren Brian and Brianna Randall, all of Minden.
Arrangements are in the care of FitzHenry's Carson Valley Funeral Home. Cremation to take place at FitzHenry's Crematory in Carson City. Memorial donations can be made, in Zola Murray's name, can be made to St. Mary's Hospice at 18653 Wedge Parkway, Reno, NV 89511.
Vance R. Strickland
1917-2007
Vance R. Strickland, 90, died in Carson City, May 30, 2007. Previously from Carson Valley, he had been a resident of Carson City for two years.
Mr. Strickland was born April 11, 1917, in Holbrook, Neb., to Ernest and Cora Strickland. He lived in San Jose, Calif. before moving to Carson Valley. He married June Cole Dec. 9, 1939, in Reno. He received an education in business management in Washington, D.C. and worked in sales management for Carnation Dairy and California State Automobile Association. He was a Free & Accepted Mason of Nevada and belonged to the Douglas Masonic Lodge No. 012. He enjoyed gardening and spending time with family and friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents and his brothers Leonard, Lester, William, Howard and his sister Gladys.
He is survived by his wife of 67 years, June Strickland, of Gardnerville; sons and daughters-in-law James and Jean Strickland of Sandy, Ore. and Joe and Cindy Strickland of Granite Bay, Calif.; daughter and son-in-law Linda and John Annett of Gardnerville as well as 15 grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren and two great-great grandchildren.
Memorial donations can be made, in the name of Vance R. Strickland, to the Alzheimer's Association or the American Diabetes Society.
