Chautauqua comes to the park

The Douglas County Historical Society Young Chautauquans will be performing under the tent in Genoa at Mormon Station Park, today and Thursday at 5 p.m. Bring the family and a picnic supper to the park and learn about history.


The Young Chautauquan program starts in January and ends with a performance in the park each June. Young people learning about their characters for their performance. This year the Young Chautauquans bring to life: Virginia and Martha Reed, Jessie Benton Fremont, Daniel Boon, Florence Nightingale, lady Jane Grey, Davy Crockett, Mark Twain, Abigail Adams, Buffalo Bill Cody, Sonora Webster Carver, Harriet Tubman, Elizabeth Tudor, Dr. Eliza Cook and Laura Ingalls Wilder.


Young Chautauquans is funded in part by Nevada Humanities and Carson Valley Kiwanis.
