Highway 395 is still closed this morning between Holbrook Junction and Bridgeport as firefighters battled through the night to protect the town of Coleville. High winds on Monday caused the fire to flare back up and threw embers over fire lines. The fire was burning on both sides of the highway last night and facilities have been provided for up to 170 evacuees. At least 70 people living in Marine Corps housing have been relocated to the Topaz Lodge. The Walker Community Center has been set up as a Red Cross shelter for 100 more. Both electricity and phone service are sketchy in the area. The fire is threatening up to 50 homes and 150 other structures. Two outbuildings have been destroyed along with their contents thus far.

There's a light dusting of snow on the Carson Range above Genoa this morning after a cold front arrived in Carson Valley last night. A trace amount of rain fell on the west side of the Valley Tuesday night. This morning the wind's blowing 11-20 mph with gusts of up to 33 mph. The high temperature today should reach 62 degrees according to the National Weather Service. Thursday's low will hit 33 degrees, so it might be a good idea to cover those tomatoes in the lower portions of the Valley. The only highway controls are the wind advisory through Washoe Valley.

Meeting week continues tonight when Minden Town Board members and trustees of the Gardnerville General Improvement District gather this evening. Minden meets at 6 p.m. in the CVIC Hall. Ranchos folks gather at 7 p.m. at their meeting room in the district offices on Mitch Drive.
