Douglas High graduate Courtney Lenhart had a breakout season for the Western Nevada Community College Wildcats women's soccer team last year, leading the team by a wide margin with 10 goals and five assists.
Now, she'll be taking her game to the next level.
Lenhart has decided that she'll play next season at Seattle University, an NCAA Division II school coming off a Great Northwest Athletic Conference championship and an NCAA Tournament appearance.
She will play forward for Seattle.
"I contacted them and my coach at WNCC (Hillary Arthur) was familiar with the school," Lenhart said. "She gave me a really good recommendation.
"I went up for a tryout and I made the team," she said, "It was really exciting, I can't wait until the fall to start playing."
As part of making the jump up to a four-year school, Seattle's coaching staff sent Lenhart a large packet of information including a hefty set of offseason workouts.
"It's pretty intimidating," Lenhart said. "But it's also really motivating. It gives me the guidelines of what it is going to take to excel there."
Lenhart was an all-region selection last season as WNCC won its conference title. She actually graduated from Douglas a semester early and began classes at WNCC in the spring of 2006.
Lenhart said she hopes to get into the physical therapy field after she is finished with school.
