The Annual Pops in the Park is expected to draw up to 3,000 people to Mormon Station State Historic Park after a one-year hiatus.

"The program for this year's "Pops-In-The-Park" is extraordinary for the amount and quality of entertainment we have planned," according to Brenda Robertson, the event chairwoman.

Minden's Dr. Thom Merry will be the invocation speaker. The Gairin Celtic Singers will perform at 1 p.m., followed by the 35 Saline Fiddlers from Michigan at 2:30 p.m.

The main program scheduled for 4:30 p.m. features the Reno Philharmonic orchestra, with Maestro Barry Jekowsky conducting. Rita Geil, a local award-winning lyric poet, will perform with the orchestra. Geil will create a short poem and read it during the playing of "God Bless America."
