Gardnerville Town Manager Jim Park is one of two finalists for the Lyon County manager's job. Lyon commissioners ranked their favorites and Park received one first-place vote and two second-place votes. His rival for the job, Dennis Stark of Michigan, got four first-place votes. Park has his work cut out for him if he wants the job. Should he get it the transition will be from Minden to Gardnerville, since Bob Hadfield has been acting Lyon County manager for the past few months.

In preparation for this weekend's aerobatic demonstration at the Wings of Change Air Show, there is a practice session this morning at the Minden-Tahoe Airport. The real deal kicks off Saturday morning and lasts through Sunday.

It does not appear as though the jury trial of Terrence Joseph Howell, accused of attempted murder in an attack on his girlfriend, will wrap up today. The prosecution was still presenting its case on Thursday.

A red flag fire warning is in effect from noon today through 10 p.m. High winds and low humidity will cause the watch to continue through Saturday. Be careful with fire and pretty much anything that causes a spark, since the chance of ignition is redlined at 100 percent.
