Assisted living community offers home to evacuees

Sierra Place Retirement and Assisted Living Community announced that effective immediately, it will offer free accommodations to senior citizens from South Lake Tahoe affected and/or displaced by the Angora Fire. Free accommodations will be available for a period of up to one week.

Senior Citizens of the South Lake Tahoe area in need of supportive care including housing in a smoke-free environment, meals, and/or assistance with medications, dressing, and bathing are eligible for the free accommodations.

"Space is limited, however we will endeavor to accommodate as many South Lake Tahoe senior citizens as we can on a first come, first served basis," said Gregory Klick, Executive Director of Sierra Place. "Senior citizens with respiratory illnesses are especially encouraged to contact us immediately. We will be able to provide apartments, bedding, meals, and other necessities for those who had to leave their homes with minimal personal belongings," said Mr. Klick.

Added Mr. Klick, "we are also working on securing the services of an area physician and pharmacy to assist in the admission of any senior citizens in need."
