Smoke from the Angora fire in South Lake Tahoe is so thick it's difficult to see across the Valley. The folks at the Sierra Front Interagency Dispatch say the smoke can create unhealthful conditions for the elderly, very young and those who suffer from respiratory ailments. Those affected by the smoke should avoid outside activities and seek medical attention if they have trouble breathing. Motorists driving through smoke filled areas should turn on their headlights and be careful, according to the Dispatch Center.

Two people snared in a methamphetamine sales investigation are expected to be sentenced in District Court this morning. Twila Leeling, 43, of Carson City and Brad Bullion, 45, of Gardnerville, are scheduled to appear before Judge Michael Gibbons. Leeling admitted to two counts of trafficking and faces up to 12 years in prison and $100,000 in fines. Bullion, who admitted to one count of possession of a controlled substance for sale faces up to four years in prison and a $5,000 fine. He could be sentenced to probation.

Today's weather will be mostly sunny and cooler. The high is expected to hit 83 degrees and the smoke may reduce that a tad. There isn't much in the way of winds expected until Tuesday, which is good news for firefighters, but will leave us in the soot for a bit. Right now it is smoky and 68 degrees.
