Christ Presbyterian Church, Gardnerville, and the Presbytery of Nevada are pleased to announce the ordination and commissioning of their new pastor, Bill Baltz.

Baltz will be ordained as a Presbyterian Minister of the Word and Sacraments and will be officially commissioned as the Pastor of Christ Presbyterian Church.

The ordination and commissioning service will be held 3 p.m. Saturday at Christ Presbyterian Church, 1436 S. Industrial Way in Gardnerville.

The session and members of Christ Presbyterian Church invite the public and the religious community to join them for this joyous occasion. A welcoming reception will follow the service in the fellowship hall. For more information, call the church office, 782-3781 or Jan White, 265-1398.

Representatives of the Nevada Presbytery and Christ Church who will participate in the service include: the Rev. Steve Blocher, Lake Tahoe Community Church, South Lake Tahoe; the Rev. Bruce Kochsmeier, First Presbyterian Church, Carson City; the Rev. Pat Hardy, Gardnerville; the Rev. Dr. Richard Spencer (Pastor Emeritus), Saratoga Presbyterian Church, Saratoga, Calif.; and elders Lyla Dusing, Shirley Parks, Bob Vibe and Jan White.

Baltz has a unique background for his ministry. Following a successful career as a marketing executive, he retired after 30 years with Xerox Corporation. After his retirement, he felt called to seek ordination as a Minister of the Word and Sacraments. He enrolled in the School of Divinity at Fuller Theological Seminary in Pasadena, Calif., and received his Master of Divinity degree from Fuller in June 2005.

Baltz has a long history of membership and service in the Presbyterian church. He has long felt a sense of calling to God's work as both a member and an elder of the Arcadia Presbyterian Church, Arcadia, Calif.

More than a year ago, congregation members selected a pastor nominating committee to begin a search for a new pastor for Christ Presbyterian Church. With the guidance of the Holy Spirit and the help of the Presbytery and general assembly, the congregation has called Bill Baltz to be their pastor.

All are invited to come celebrate his ordination and official commissioning as the head pastor for Christ Presbyterian Church.
