Two Carson Valley athletes have earned spots on the Nevada Wrangler Junior High rodeo team and will compete in the Wrangler Junior High Finals Rodeo in Gallup, N.M. from July 2 to 7.
Minden Elementary sixth-grader Wyatt Denny qualified to compete in bull riding and team roping and Carson Valley Middle School eighth-grader Grant Denny qualified in bulls, chute dog, goats and team roping.
Featuring more than 900 contestants in 44 statesm Canadian provinces and Australia, the Wrangler Junior High Finals is the world's largest junior high rodeo.
In addition to competing for more than $75,000 in prizes, contestants will also be vying for more than $50,000 in college scholarships.
The top 15 after two go-rounds advance to the championship performance.
