Highways 89 and 50 are open without restrictions after being closed to fight the Angora fire in South Lake Tahoe.

A meeting to assist residents displaced by the Angora fire with disaster relief is 7 p.m. tonight at Lake Tahoe Community College.

As of 12:15 p.m., the Angora fire has consumed 2,730 acres and remains at 40 percent containment. Firefighters are expected to encircle the fire by Sunday, according to the InciWeb site.

The size of the fire was revised after a GPS mapping flyover.

The fire is continuing to consume large trees on the ground with single trees bursting into flames. Voluntary evacuations are still under way. Firefighters plan to continue cutting a line around the fire and mopping up and providing security for the subdivision that burned in the fire.
