Highway 50 at the casino core has been closed to all traffic except emergency personnel as the Angora Fire once again gains the upper hand at Lake Tahoe.
The highway was shut off at the Loop Road at 5 p.m. today. Deputies from Douglas County and the Nevada Highway Patrol were on scene to turn motorists back in the busy casino core.
Originally, South Shore residents were to be allowed on the highway, but the ban on all traffic was imposed as the fire worsened.
Agencies were establishing a command center at the Douglas County Sheriff's Office substation at Stateline to handle traffic control.
