-- Ballroom dancing - March 23 through April 27, Fridays, 7-8 p.m., adults, Dance Workshop, $75 a couple - Learn the fundamentals of the fox trot, swing, waltz and Latin dances.


-- Ballroom dancing 2 - March 23 through April 27, Fridays, 8-9 p.m., adults, Dance Workshop, $75 a couple - Learn a few more complicated dance moves. Prerequisite: Ballroom dancing 1.


-- Beginner's Tai Chi - March 10-31, Saturdays, 8-10 a.m., adults, Carson Valley Middle School, $5 - Tai Chi is a soft martial art or exercise form which originated in China.


-- Dog obedience - March 28 through May 2, Wednesdays, 7-8 p.m., ages 8 and older, Douglas County Fairgrounds, $75 - If you need help in establishing good conduct and curbing bad habits, this course is for you.


-- Easter pottery - March 12-26: Mondays, March 12 3:40-5:10 p.m.; March 19 3:40-4:40 p.m.; March 26 3:40-4:10 p.m., ages 7-12, recreation annex, $28 - Your child will create an Easter project that will make memories for years.


-- Empowerment workshop - March 20, Tuesday, 6:30-8:30 p.m., ages 16 and older, recreation annex, $50 - oin this class to celebrate your best possibilities and your decision to create the most from any situation you encounter.


-- Hip hop - March 7-28, Wednesdays, 6:45-7:45 p.m., ages 10-13, Dance Workshop, $45 - Here's your chance to learn the latest moves for this popular dance style.


-- Martial Arts Expo II - Saturday, March 17, noon to 4 p.m., ages 7 and older, Douglas County Fairgrounds, $5 - Join us for an afternoon of fun. This family event is a fundraiser for the Family Support Council of Douglas County.


-- Parents night out - Saturday, March 17, 5:30-10 p.m., ages 4-12, Tumbleweeds Gymnastics, $25 - Take the opportunity to enjoy a night out while your children are having a blast.


-- Practical pistol course - Saturday, March 17, 8 a.m. to 4:30 p.m., ages 21 and older, Douglas County Shooting Range, $125 - This one-day course covers immediate action response drills, using active and moving targets. An additional $10 insurance fee is payable to the instructor.


-- Renaissance swordsmanship - March 7-28, Wednesdays, 7-9 p.m., ages 11 and older, Gardnerville Elementary School, $20 - Students will learn basics of Renaissance swordsmanship.


-- Scrapbooking - Saturday, March 10, 9 a.m. to 3 p.m., adults, Gardnerville Elementary School, $10 - Enjoy an uninterrupted day of scrap booking on your own 6-foot table. Snacks, water, tools and support are available.


-- Senior ballroom dancing - March 23 through April 27, Fridays, 2-3 p.m., ages 55 and older, Dance Workshop, $75 a couple - This is a chance to learn new dance skills or just tune up existing skills.


-- "Snowshoe" Thompson tour - Saturday, March 10, 7:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m., adults, recreation annex, $35 or $25 with own equipment - Learn about the historical facts adventures of Snowshoe Thopson. This information tour sponsored by Hope Valley Outdoors Center will include equipment rental and tour.


-- Spanish at Gardnerville Elementary School - March 8-29, Thursdays, 3:15-4:15 p.m., grades first through sixth, $40 - This class is for students who wish to continue learning Spanish based on the Douglas County Elementary Spanish Curriculum.


-- Tiny Tumblers - March 7-30, Wednesdays and Fridays, 9-9:45 a.m., 6 months to 2 years, Tumbleweeds Gymnastics, $55 - This parent participation class promotes independent learning in sport, self-esteem and first friendships.


-- Wine tour - Sunday, March 18, 9 a.m. to 8 p.m., adults, recreation division, $40 - Spend the day in beautiful El Dorado County and Amador Couty exploring the rich vineyards and learning the art of wine tasting.


-- Teen dance - Friday, March 16, 7-9:30 p.m., grades six through eight, Douglas County Fairgrounds, $5


-- Battle of the Bands - Saturday, March 24, 4-10 p.m., 12-20 participating bands, Douglas County Fairgrounds, $5
