Family support classes offered

The Family Support Council of Douglas County offers a variety of classes for parents of children up to age 4.


In March:


March 8 - Potty training, 10 a.m.


March 14 - Basic baby food, 10 a.m.


March 15 - Afternoon of art, 2 p.m.


March 20 - LaLeche League; breastfeeding support, 2 p.m.


March 29 - Music 'n Motion, 10 a.m.


"Toddler Time" is every Tuesday from 10-11a.m.


Other classes offered through April will be How to Survive Your Teen for parents of children ages 13-18, seven consecutive from 6:30-8:30 p.m. Tuesdays beginning April 24; Effective Parenting for parents of children ages 6-12, seven consecutive Thursdays from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m. beginning April 26.


Classes are free but there is a $10 fee for materials, free on-site babysitting is available.


Parenting classes encourage the understanding of family dynamics as well as the dynamics of the individuals who make up a family. After attending classes, parents should be better able to provide a nurturing environment of care and security for their children so that they may grow into confident, productive adults.
