Ski and snowshoe tour honors 'Snowshoe'

On March 10, the annual "fun" day in Hope Valley, in memory of the great Norwegian American ski legend and mail carrier, John "Snowshoe" Thompson, will take place.


The Hope Valley Outdoor Center and Friends of "Snowshoe" Thompson are sponsoring the eighth anniversary of the "Snowshoe" Thompson Cross Country Ski/Snowshoe Tour.


Participants should meet at 9 a.m. at the Hope Valley Outdoor Center, 146 Highway 88. Frank Tortorich will be the historical guide and Nina MacLeod will be the skiing guide. The 5K ski tour or 2 1/2K snowshoe will begin at 10 a.m. The day also includes a longboard demonstration and light lunch. The cost is $10.
