Gardnerville Town Board members are scheduled to hear presentations from Carson Valley Recycling Co. to establish a fee-based curbside recycling program at their regular meeting this afternoon.

The Gardnerville Town Board meets this afternoon at 4:30 p.m. in the town office, located at 1407 Highway 395. Don't be late, because the board moves pretty fast.

Genoans are scheduled to discuss expansion of a requirement for bear-proof trash containers into the rest of Douglas County tonight.

At present, Lake Tahoe residents are required to have containers that prevent bears from raiding their trash under Douglas County Code.

County commissioners discussed expanding the code to the rest of the county, but wanted to get the town's perspectives on the issue. Both Gardnerville and Minden operate their own trash service. Douglas Disposal handles Genoa's garbage service.

The Genoa Town Board meets 7 p.m. in the Genoa Town Meeting.

As of 6 a.m. the Nevada Highway Patrol is reporting no incidents or accidents on Douglas County roads. There are no controls and roadwork in our neck of the woods is limited to the Highway 50 bridge project and Spruce Street in Gardnerville.
