William Herbert Beasley

1943-2006

Former Gardnerville resident, William (Bill) Herbert Beasley, 63, died in Alamo, Texas, on Dec. 13, 2006, from Lou Gehrig's disease, which was diagnosed in August 2006.

Mr. Beasley was born Oct. 30, 1943, to W. Herbert and Ioma Estelle Fitch Beasley in Wilder, Idaho. He graduated from Wilder High School in 1961. In his early years he worked in a casino in Elko. He then moved to Lake Tahoe and worked for Harveys Casino as a games supervisor where he met and married Joni Purvis Erwin in 1975. The liked to travel, as well as loving the outdoors. He loved fishing, hunting and his favorite past time was listening to talk radio 24 hours a day.

In 1994 Joni was incapacitated by an illness, which left her dependent on Bill who lovingly took care of her until his death.

Mr. Beasley was preceded in death by his parents, grandparents and an uncle. He is survived by his wife of 31 years, Joni Beasley; his two daughters Carrie Beasley and Wendy Hill, both of Elko; two stepchildren, Becky Erwin Taggart of Colorado Springs, Colo., and Joe Erwin of Orlando, Fla., as well as grandchildren Trevor, Roxanne, Dillion; his sister Marilyn Beasley of Boise, Idaho; other relatives; a host of friends but especially Steve Orlob of Las Vegas with whom he worked for 18 years at Harveys Casino.

R. B. Cooper

1931-2007

A funeral service will be 1 p.m. today at the Garden of Prayer Mortuary in Riverside, Calif. for R.B. Cooper, 75, who died March 1, 2007, at his home in Topaz Ranch Estates/Wellington.

Mr. Cooper was born Sept. 6, 1931 in Quinton, Okla., to Alfred B. Cooper and Eva E. Bryant. He graduated Perris Union HIgh School in 1950 and served in the U.S. Air Force. He married Roberta J. Watson, March 31, 1952, in Los Angeles. He was employed in the aerospace industry at Rohr Industries in Riverside and Edgemont, Calif., and retired from management in 1987 after 34 years. Previously from Riverside, he was a resident of Topaz Ranch Estates for 11 years. He enjoyed camping, fishing, NASCAR races and baseball.

He was preceded in death by his son, Randall B. Cooper, 1970 in Riverside; his parents Alfred B. Cooper 1963 and Eva E. Cooper 1985; one sister and four brothers.

He is survived by his wife Roberta J. Cooper of Topaz Ranch Estates/Wellington, daughter Deborah J. Darling of Topaz Ranch Estates/Wellington and son Gregory B. Cooper of Riverside; his sister Billie Mae Cooper of Riverside as well as six grandchildren, seven great-grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews.

Arrangements are in the care of FitzHenry's Funeral Home in Carson City. A visitation took place March 8.

Burial will take place at the Olivewood Cemetery in Riverside. Memorial donations can be made to a charity of your choice.

Robin Lynn Kalaman

1954-2006

A memorial service is 11 a.m. Monday for Gardnerville resident Robin Lynn Kalaman, 52, at Carson Valley United Methodist Church. Pastor Pete Nelson will officiate. A fellowship reception will follow services at the Lakeside Inn in Stateline. Mrs. Kalaman died Dec. 19, 2006.

Born Jan. 28, 1954, in Darlington, Pa., to Willard and Colleen (Strawn) Martsolf, her family moved to Ohio, where she spent her school years in Damascus. She graduated from West Branch High School in Beloit, Ohio, in 1972.

In January 1975, Mrs. Kalaman moved to Florida where she met Bob Kalaman. The couple was married in Beloit on April 20, 1980. In June 1980 the couple moved to Nevada. Mrs. Kalaman worked at the Lakeside Inn as a bartender for 20 years, and enjoyed her time at work socializing.

Mrs. Kalaman's hobbies included reading, watching movies, collecting figurines, doing yoga, and spending time with her son.

Mrs. Kalaman was preceded in death by her grandparents and one niece.

Mrs Kalaman is survived by her husband Bob of Gardnerville; son Derek Kalaman of Gardnerville; parents Willard and Colleen Martsolf of Beloit; brother Bruce E. Martsolf of Beloit; sister Cheryl A. and her husband Jeff Dillon of Dover, Del.; numerous aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces and nephews. Arrangements are in the care of Autumn Funerals & Cremations.

Ted L. Winger

1928-2007

An inurnment service will be today at the Genoa Cemetery in Genoa for Ted L. Winger, 78, who died March 5, 2007 at Barton Memorial Hospital in South Lake Tahoe, Calif.

Mr. Winger was born April 10, 1928 to Victor Francis and Marguerite Salome Winger in Oil City, Penn. He retired from Pacific Telephone in 1982 and then moved to Douglas County. He was a Hall of Fame member and past president of the Los Angeles Bowling Association. He was also active in the Topaz Ranch Estates Property Owners Association. Over the years he was active in many youth organizations in California and Nevada, including helping to organize Little League in Topaz Ranch Estates. He was a avid golfer, gardener and bowler with a perfect 300 game to his credit.

He is survived by his son Victor Winger of Houston, Texas; daughters Michele Pike and Marcia Parks and their spouses Suzy Winger, Richard Pike and Jeff Boylan of Gardnerville; grandchildren Robert Pike, Richard Pike, Robert Lamar and Dever Lamar.

Georgia C. Yandell

1927-2007

Georgia C. Yandell, 79, a Gardnerville resident since 1974, died March 3, 2007, in Gardnerville.

Mrs. Yandell was born Dec. 21, 1927, in Petaluma, Calif., to George and Blanche Batchelder.

Before moving to Gardnerville, Mrs. Yandell lived at South Lake Tahoe.

She enjoyed cooking, baking, knitting, stitchwork, outdoor activities, gardening and breeding animals.

She was preceded in death by her husband, David Yandell, in 1981; son Richard Hill and brother Douglas Batchelder.

Among her survivors are her sons and daughters-in-law George and Michelle Hill, and William and Lori Hill, all of Gardnerville; daughters Karen Yandell of Gardnerville and Carol Yandell also of Gardnerville; nine grandchildren, eight great-grandchildren, and two on the way.

Burial will take place at Walton's Carson Gardens Cemetery.

Walton's Chapel of the Valley is in charge of arrangements.
