Thanks for the support of the CVAC concert

Editor:

The Carson Valley Arts Council recently hosted its third concert, a performance by steel-string acoustic guitarist, Beppe Gambetta. We thank our sponsors: Tahoe Ridge Winery & Marketplace for the wine and appetizers; Douglas County Parks & Recreation Department; Town of Minden; Syncon Homes; Historian Inn for Beppe's lodging; Sweetie Pies by Wendy Smith for the dessert; DR Design's Doug Reynolds for the artwork and arranging Beppe's visit; Carson Tahoe Music's Mike Hildum live sound engineer; Stockdale Creative Marketing and Advertising; R&S Optimum Offset; and The Record-Courier for coverage of our event.

There are others, too numerous to mention who have lent encouragement, expertise and elbow grease to our dream of converting the old Copeland lumber building into a performing art center. We are grateful to all of you, to the many wonderful people who attended the concert, and to all who donated money and/or became official members of the Carson Valley Arts Council Our next event will feature the Argenta Trio, a classical ensemble from UNR featuring John Lenz on cello, Philip Ruder on violin, and James Winn on piano. It will take place at the CVIC Hall at 6 p.m. April 7; we hope to see you there.

Our Carson Valley annual Eagles & Agriculture event in late February had not just great weather but tremendous community support. We are grateful to the following for their contributions to a very successful your-choice drawing.

Tahoe Breeze Alpacas, Russell's Mercantile, Lahontan Audubon Society, The Nature Conservancy, Nevada Rock Art Foundation, Alpine Watershed Group, Douglas County Historical Society, Comstock Seed, Moments In Time Photography, Carson Valley Inn, Nevada Farm Bureau, Tahoe Wildlife Care Facility, Paradise Bird Feed, Home Grown Nevada, University of Nevada Cooperative Extension, Barbara and Dallas Byington, Eastern Sierra Feed and Farm Supply, Ironwood Stadium Cinema 8, Lake Tahoe Horizon Casino Resort, Harveys Hotel Casino, David Walley's Resort, Hot Springs and Spa, Full-Circle Compost, Carson Valley Conservation District, Bently Biofuels, Carson Valley Golf Course, Bing Materials, Hamdogs, and Overland Meat Company of South Tahoe. With the assistance of wonderful volunteer and the guidance of Mary Jane Harding, ticket sales for the drawing were five times that of last year. The funds will be used to promote the conservation and preservation of raptor habitat in Carson Valley.

Thanks to everyone for their support.
