Authorities seek help in finding suspect

Authorities are asking anyone with information regarding a shooting incident 3 a.m. today in Indian Hills to contact them.

A description of a man who continues to elude deputies was issued by the Douglas County Sheriff's Office this afternoon.

Deputies are looking for Robert Michael Hernandez, 20, 5-feet, 9-inches tall, weighing 155 pounds. Hernandez has short black hair and goes by the nickname "Pee Wee."

Hernandez was a passenger in a Chevrolet SUV spotted at about 3 a.m. in Stewart, according to Sgt. Tom Mezzetta of the Douglas County Sheriff's Office.

Washoe Tribal Police attempted to stop the vehicle due to careless operation and its speed. When they tried to make a traffic stop, the Chevrolet, allegedly driven by Fidel Fuentes, 24, took off.

Officers pursued the SUV into Indian Hills, catching up to it in a cul de sac on Agate Court. Tribal officers tried to box the car in, but it turned back toward officers and rammed a police cruiser.

The vehicle veered towards an officer on foot and fearing for his safety, the Tribal Police officer fired three shots at the SUV.

The SUV traveled back up Vista Grande to Princeton where Fuentes and Hernandez allegedly jumped out and ran. An unnamed female passenger in the vehicle was left behind and detained by officers. A handgun and shotgun were found inside the SUV.

Douglas County officers, using a K-9 team tracked the suspects movements through the neighborhood, finding small drops of blood. Fuentes was captured at 10:15 a.m. on Garnet Court after running from a garage where he'd taken refuge.
