Tools worth nearly $7,000 were reported missing after a burglary March 7 at Silver State Roofing Materials Inc. in the Gardnerville industrial park.

Deputies responded to a burglar alarm shortly before midnight and discovered a smashed-in window at the business in the 1400 block of Industrial Way.

An inventory revealed that 13 power saws, a generator, four compressors and five pneumatic nail guns were missing with a total value of $6,725.

Another $500 was added to the loss for the broken window.

The company owner is offering a reward of up to $1,000 for information leading to the arrest and/or conviction of the burglar.

Deputies searched the building and grounds with canine officers but turned up no suspects.

Manager Ryan McTee was called to the scene and told officers he did not suspect any employees.

Deputies believe the burglar had access to the building and the alarm code and that the items were carried off in a vehicle.

The burglary is under investigation.

Anyone with information is asked to call Secret Witness at 782-7463 or the Douglas County Sheriff's Office, 782-9911.
