Classes and events offered for active senior citizens

On Monday at 10 a.m., the Knitting Club will meet in the Ceramics Room at the Douglas County Senior Center, 2300 Meadow Lane, Gardnerville. Participants are encouraged to bring their projects, needles for crochet/knitting and yarn.


Coffee and cookies will be provided at the social affair. There will be yarn available for future projects. For further information, contact the center at 783-6455.


-- Last month's dance was so successful at the Douglas County Senior Center another one has been scheduled for 7-10 p.m. March 24. Refreshments will be available and a 50/50 raffle will take place.


"Dance to the music of Don and Nadine," said Esther Hildebrand. "Their music is perfect for seniors and is nostalgic. Admission is $5 per person and the public is invited."

-- The Green Thumb Club is back starting on March 26 at 10 a.m. in the Ceramics Room at the senior center.


Howard Althouse said, "We will explain how to prepare the soil for spring planting. Also, a trip to Daffodil Hill in Sutter Creek is planned to view over 300,000 blossoming bulbs from 300 varieties of bulbs. You won't want to miss this trip."


Sign-up for the trip will commence in April at the Center.


-- Legal assistance by Nevada Legal Service will be available at the Douglas County Senior Center on March 28 from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Anyone interested must make an appointment by calling the Douglas County Senior Center at 783-6455 or stop by the center.
