Storm not really a spring surprise

As predicted, the weather will take a turn for the worse for the first day of spring. According to a special weather statement issued early this morning by the National Weather Service, a storm is heading this way and will arrive late Monday evening and early Tuesday, the first day of spring. While forecasters are uncertain if the storm has the strength to crest the Sierra, high temperatures are expected to drop into the 50s. Snow levels in the Sierra will range between 6,000-7,000 feet and then drop below Lake level and into the Valley floors. Up to 6 inches of snow is expected in the upper elevations and about 3 inches at Lake level. Forecasters don't believe there will be any accumulations in the Valleys. What is certain is that there will be wind, although the Weather Service is saying gusts will top out at 28 mph, or barely a spring breeze here.
