A woman accused of leaving the scene of an accident that severely injured a motorcyclist appeared in East Fork Justice Court today.

Kimberly Garcia, 26, was arrested in Gardnerville on Sunday after the accident at 1:20 p.m. on Foothill Road near Sheridan.

Injured in the accident was Claude Kelly, 60, of Reno, who was riding a BMW motorcycle southbound on Foothill near Sierra Country Drive when a Chevrolet pickup swerved into the southbound lanes. The motorcycle hit the ground and ejected Kelly. The pickup fled the scene of the accident. Kelly was taken to Reno Medical Center for serious injuries.

The pickup was discovered in Gardnerville, which led to the arrest of Garcia. She is being held in Douglas County jail in lieu of $26,350 on charges of hit and run causing substantial bodily harm or death and driving without insurance.
