The Carson Valley Middle School wrestling team took advantage of a weekday dual match heading into a big weekend tournament.
Having lost Robert Grant to some broken ribs that he suffered in a USA Wrestling tournament the week before, the team was down to five eligible wrestlers.
Logan Ames and Austin Park turned in two pins each in a four-way match against Pa-Wa-Lu, Carson and Eagle Valley.
Daniel Lundergreen and Daniel Palmer each recorded one pin.
J.T. Dunning had his season debut and wrestled well in two losses.
On Saturday, Carson Valley dominated the mat at the Dayton Wrestling Tournament with three of their four wrestlers reaching the finals.
Palmer, a seventh-grade heavyweight pinned his opponent from Truckee to advance to the finals and took a forfeit victory in the title match for his first title of the season.
Lundergreen pinned Nick Stockwell of Dayton and beat a Carson wrestler 15-0 in the semifinals. He held on for a 5-4 victory in a close match against Pau-Wa-Lu's previously unbeaten Asher Moody to win his first gold medal of the season.
Park pinned his way into the semifinals and scored a 27-second pin agains Incline to advance to the championship.
Park ended up losing a hotly-contested finals match 4-3, taking his opponent to the final buzzer before the match was finally decided.
Dunning also wrestled well but came up just short in his matches which kept him out of the medal round.
Carson Valley heads to Carson next week for the Tah-Neva qualifier.
