The R-C Morning Report

Spring may have finally arrived with clear skies ahead for the foreseeable future and highs in the 70s predicted for the weekend. Today's high temperature, though, will be a chilly 51 degrees. Low temperatures will stay below freezing until Friday. In all the storm left .17 inches of moisture in Fish Springs and an inch of new snow at Heavenly Mountain Resort.

There are still a few road controls out there, including Highway 50 through Douglas County, which is requiring chains or snow tires from South Lake Tahoe to Spooner Summit. There's a wind advisory through Washoe Valley.

The rumor is that the Minden Garage is dead. I've been trying to get confirmation from Douglas County Manager Dan Holler for two days and will continue to pursue it. Budget cuts are allegedly to blame for the demise. If our poll question is any indication, the project won't be missed.

I spotted my first Douglas Times box on Tuesday. The Times is the Reno Gazette-Journal's tabloid weekly, which publishes its first edition on Friday. The boxes however, are big and red. If you want to get an idea of what they're looking at, take a look at the Carson Times. This will only be the third time in Douglas County's long history that two weeklies have gone head to head.
