Enjoy the sunshine while you can, a cold front is coming down and the wind is supposed to kick off this afternoon, according to a weather statement issued 4 a.m. by the National Weather Service. The wind will accelerate on Wednesday. Rain showers will move into northern Nevada tonight and spread south on Wednesday. Snow levels will hit the

Valley floor by Thursday, but there shouldn't be much in the way of accumulation. Temperatures will drop 25-30 degrees into the low 50s.

On the SafeTravel Web site, there is a row of orange diamonds with a large letter R in the middle denoting road work from the Nevada border all the way to Carson City on Highway 50. The fun starts at Elks Point Road, continues to Glenbrook and then wraps up on the way down to Carson City. There is also work on Highway 28 near Spooner Junction. Our own roadwork continues at night and is mostly visible by the trail of neatly trenched sidewalks left in the morning.

The regular meeting of the Gardnerville Town Board will be a quick one. Starting at 4:30 p.m., the board will discuss a proclamation recognizing the 5th annual Sharkey Begovich Memorial "Swing for a Cure" Golf Tournament, accept a Tree City USA award and discuss a public hearing for the adoption of the final budget. All action timed at 20 minutes, tops. Utilities will be on the agenda at the Genoa Town Board 7 p.m. tonight, including the status of the town's water system and an application to the State Division of Water Resources asking for an appropriation of ground water rights and discussion of the town's policy that all Candy Dance arts and crafts vendors be juried.
