Call it a bittersweet regular-season finale for the Douglas High boys' golf team.

Douglas took fourth in the Sierra League tournament at Eagle Valley East Tuesday afternoon, but by virtue of Wooster still finishing fifth, the Tigers missed out on the fourth and final team playoff spot for the Northern 4A Regionals scheduled for next week.

"The boys fought to the end for the final team spot, but we came up a little short," Douglas coach Brent Eddy said.

Carson won the event, claiming the top playoff spot, while Reno and South Tahoe took second and third respectively, each punching their tickets to the playoffs. Wooster took the fourth spot.

Carson's Kevin Goles won individual medalist honors as the Senators completed a season-sweep of the Sierra League circuit.

Freshman Thomas Wicker led the Tigers with a 78, followed by Troy Shields at 79, Reese Kizer at 83, Eric Guzman with 84, Keith Young with an 85, and Cody Hines with an 88.

Wicker and Guzman each received individual invites to the Northern 4A Region Tournament.

The Northern 4A Regionals will be at the resort at Red Hawk next Monday and Tuesday.
