The Dance Workshop competition team represented their studio and Carson Valley April 28-29 in Portland, Ore. Six dancers attended the prestigious International Dance Challenge Competition in seven routines. The dancers competing were: Jocelyn Brockhage, Mary Brockhage, Megan Hellwinkel, Kim Lowe, Raechel Prosser and Tammy Telles.

Three of their routines, "Body Language," "Blackbird" and "Mozart" were awarded platinum trophies. "Boogie Wonderland," "Lonesome Road," " Whistle and Blow" and "Yesterday" each received gold medals. "Body Language" was asked to compete in the top six most entertaining showcase of the day. The second highest overall for the day was "Mozart" and the Dance Workshop received the best overall choreography award for the western region.

"One of the dancers, Mary Brockhage, received the regional Miss International Award for the senior division," said director Ann Peters. "The judges said she had the most energy and was the most fun to watch throughout the entire competition."

This is the only regional competition where entries have to be invited to attend the national finals and each of the Dance Workshop entries received an invitation to compete this summer in Las Vegas.

"The Dance Workshop team was small, but mighty, and took many of the top awards away from studios competing from all over the Northwest and Canada," said Peters.
