The Douglas County Public Library Foundation is accepting applications for volunteers to serve on the board of the foundation. Founded in 1999, the DCPLF is a 501(c)(3) working in a fundraising capacity for the public library.

According to its mission the Douglas County Public Library Foundation,

"Facilitates the library's success by fostering contributions for extraordinary projects to be accomplished by the library."

Past projects include a renovation of the meeting room in the Minden library in memory of Elizabeth Johnson, an electronic kiosk to provide library services in south Douglas County from 2001-2007, and partial funding for a total renovation of the children's area in the Minden library. Future projects include the establishment of an endowment fund for support of materials, services, programs, and capital renovations and expansion.

Fundraising plans for 2007 includes a silent auction and raffle in conjunction with the Wings of Change Dinner Dance at the Minden-Tahoe Airport on June 23, and a discount day at Borders in the fall.
