Coomes elected ASCE president

Robert Coomes, a 2003 graduate of Douglas High School, was recently elected President of the American Society of Civil Engineers at the University of Nevada, Reno. ASCE has 60 to 80 members in addition to various community service projects in Reno, they also participated in the concrete canoe and steel bridge intercollegiate competitions. After their recent competition at San Jose State College, the canoe team will be heading to nationals in Seattle this summer.

Coomes also works as an intern for Nevada Department of Transportation during the summer.
