After posting a spotless record in regular season dual meets, the Douglas High School girls' swim team put the wraps on the league title with an impressive display of depth Saturday.
The Tigers had solid performances from its relays and a number of strong individual performances, but for the most part they pulled by placing three or four athletes in the top 15 of each event.
Freshman Haley Von Schottenstein (100 freestyle) and the 200 free relay team of Von Schottenstein, Katie O'Neill, Virginia Evans and Dana Pardee won league titles in their respective events as Douglas scored a total of 372 points.
South Tahoe finished second overall with 327, Reed took third (317), North Valleys finished fourth (278), Bishop Manogue (243) took fifth and Lowry finished sixth.
The 100 free was a particularly strong event for the Tigers. Following Von Schottenstein was O'Neill in second. Whitney Simpson took fourth and Kali Evanson took 11th.
Von Schottenstein finished second in the 50 free while Pardee took fifth and Sarah Tigh took ninth.
Cassie Parr took third in the 200 free, Rebecca Chappell took ninth, Amanda McRae finished 14th and Chandra Matheson finished 15th.
Evans finished fifth in the 100 breaststroke, followed by McRae in sixth, Tigh in seventh and Anna Jackson in ninth.
Parr and Jackson took fifth and sixth respectively in the 500 free while Julie Pozun took 15th and O'Neill took third in the 100 backstroke while Simpson took 10th and Pardee finished 11th.
The 400 free relay team of Simpson, McRae, Parr and Tigh took second and the 200 medley relay team of O'Neill, Von Schottenstein, Simpson and Evans took third.
Evans took ninth in the 200 IM and Evanson took 15th, and Chandra Matheson took seventh in the 100 fly followed by Chappell in ninth.
On the boys' side, the 200 medley relay team of Marco Hyman, Angel Skelton, Paul Von and Blake Maxwell posted a second-pace finish, which was the Tigers' top performance of the day.
Hyman took third in the 200 IM, and Danny Perez took ninth.
Ben Weiss took third in the 100 fly and Angel Skelton took fifth.
Maxwell took third in the 100 free.
The 200 free relay team of Ryan Dykes, James Spencer, Ryan Fore and Matt Nielson took third as well.
Hyman finished fourth in the 100 back, followed by Spencer in ninth and Andy Pozun in 10th.
Skelton took fourth in the 100 breaststroke and Colby cain took ninth.
Von took sixth in the 200 free.
Cain and Weiss tied for eighth in the 50 free while Von finished 10th and Perez rounded out the scoring by taking seventh in the 500 free.
The regional trials are Friday at the Carson Aquatic Facility and the Northern 4A Regional Championships are Saturday at Carson.
