Reno's Lakeridge Tennis Club hosted the first Northern Nevada Junior Satellite Tournament of 2007 recently.

Nick Goodner, 8, was seeded No. 1 in the boys 10 challenger division. Utilizing consistency and multi-direcitonal ball placements, he won the division championship without giving up a game in two rounds.

Goodner has also qualified to compete in the Western Regional Championships in San Diego.

Amelia Ritger, 13, entered the first tournament as the No. 1 seed in the girls 16 bracket. After a routine victory in the first round, she struggled slightly in the second, winning 0-6, 6-2, 6-2.

She faced Galena's Haley Llop in the finals.

With an improved level of expertise and a significant home-court cheering section, Llop prevailed 6-3, 7-6 (tiebreaker 8-6).

The next tournament in the series will be at the Reno Tennis Center May 19 through 20.
