Douglas High freshman Thomas Wicker qualified for the state golf tournament by shooting a two-day total of 159 at the Northern 4A Regional championships at Red Hawk this week.

Wicker became just the third Tiger golfer in the last eight years to advance to state.

Sophomore Eric Guzman fell just three shots short of qualifying, shooting a 163 to tie for 15th overall.

Spanish Springs took the team title and Carson finished second, taking both team qualifying spots for the state tournament.

Spanish Springs' Ren Wilson won the individual title, shooting a 139, while his teammates Robert Perea and Scott Kelly took second and third respectively.

Carson's Kevin Goles finished fourth, and Wicker wound up finishing in a three-way tie for seventh.
