The family of Sgt. Anthony Schober, 23, a Reno-area soldier reported missing in Iraq by the Pentagon thanked people for their support today during a brief news conference today in Carson City.

Schober, who attended two years of school at Douglas High, went missing Saturday during an attack that occurred south of Baghdad. Four soldiers died in the attack, but the Pentagon has identified just three of them.

The fourth soldier is thought to be one among the four soldiers currently listed missing, which includes Schober. DNA-testing is being done to determine the fourth deceased.

An Iraqi translator also died in the attack.

Speaking at the news conference was Schober's uncle, Bob Schober of Minden.

Schober's father, Edward Schober his father's wife, Virginia Schober, also were present but did not speak. Virginia Schober is Anthony Schober's stepmother. Edward and Virginia Schober are from Carson City.

The family declined questions from the media about details on Schober.
