Soccer: Colo Colo takes second at Comstock Shootout

Carson Valley Soccer Club's Colo Colo boys U17 team took second place in the under-19 division of the recent Comstock Tournament in Carson City.

Colo Colo lost their first game against Davis (0-1) and defeated Concord (1-0) and Pleasant Hills (3-0) to advance to the championship.


Colo Colo lost a close 1-0 match to the Reno Zephyrs to take second.

In the following week, Colo Colo played three games in the first round of the Nevada State Cup. Carson Valley defeated the Reno Rebellion 2-0, lost to the Reno Strikers 3-1 and defeated the Truckee Jolt 4-3.


Colo Colo is now seeded as the No. 2 team in Northern Nevada and advances to the Nevada State Cup Finals which will be in Carson City this weekend.

The team, consisting of players from Carson Valley and Carson City, competes in the Great Basin Youth Soccer League and is coached by Ron Gardner, Brian Andraski, Ruben Aguilar, Hector Ruelas and Rudi Losche.


Players include Lupe Ruelas, Patrick Flaherty, Andrew Andraski, Jose Alcaraz, Robbie Forest, Ross Gardner, Fabian Ramos, Chase Losche, Kyle Gardner, Austin Schick, Ben Wood, Geoff Rahe, Brian Jaggard, Dustin Goldade, Jesus Martinez, Ray Kaffer, Jeff Husley and Kyle Mannschreck.
