Softball: Hot Shots win Yerington ice breaker tourney

The Carson Valley 12U Hot Shots traveling softball team won the Walker River Ice Breaker tournament in Yerington last weekend.

Carson Valley defeated the Carson Sharks in game one 14-5 and thumped the Lassen Explosion 12-0 in the second game.


The Hot Shots advanced to the championship game with a 10-2 win over the Sharks and then beat Lassen Green 11-9.


Most of the Hot Shots players have been playing together for about three years. The team is based out of the Carson Valley Girls Softball Association.

Carson Valley has another tournament Memorial Day Weekend and will host a two-day tournament Carson Valley Days weekend at Stodick Park.


Carson Valley's roster includes Amanda Caras, Kelly Sonnemann, Kaylee Duryee, Marlena Martin, Taylor McKinnon, Emily Downer, Aaliyah Paxson, Katie Kluever, Illiana Brown, Jenna Geyer, Mackenzie Park and Madison Dunleavy.

The team is coached by Tom Keck, Lance Caras and Wes Duryee.
