After frightening the public " and the owners themselves " with the news of an impending sale of the 15-year-old Italian restaurant, Ruggero and Gina Gigli are pleased to announce the reopening of Villa Gigli Trattoria/Galleria in Markleeville. Ever since escrow closed unsuccessfully, Ruggero Gigli has been eagerly planning a new concept to be initiated May 26 and 27.

"First come, first served," said chef Ruggero Gigli. "No reservations will be accepted. We'll open the door at 5 p.m. Saturday and Sunday evenings and close it for new customers just after 8 p.m. I'll still be making pasta, pizza and bread from 'scratch,' but customers now can order them a la carte."

Artist Gina Gigli said she is concentrating on "alla carta" " with paper " in Italian, by focusing her attention toward creating works-on-paper and papier-mache masks.

Villa Gigli is located at 145 Hot Springs Road, on the way to Grover Hot Springs.
